Vent My essay

Basic this is my first semeter i need to have a head start to achieve the top student award. And also this semeter i will be having 5 courses is about the same as a full-time study. I need to have a basic understanding for the first lesson for the both courses (corporate commmunication & Managerial Accounting), if not i will be leaking behind the lesson. Because one lesson duration is 3 hours and during lesson will be discuss on assignment (TMA) that will be grade and submit to online(SIM blackboard). If i never attend the lesson i might be fail badly for the assignment (TMA) and will fail the courses, SIM requirement is that you fail your course work(50%) then you also fail your main exam(50%). Hope that you can understand that the time-off is important to me for attending lesson and commitment for my study.

At first i tot rare and raw is the same.. Then is wrong that corrected me.. learn a new thing today. And do a bit reseach on it..

The following terms are in order from least cooked to most cooked:

Well done - (73.9°C/165°F degrees core temp) The meat is gray-brown throughout and slightly charred.

Yo

Too busy from jan to feb. finally end in the tp life.. but is so sad that i begin ended in the tp life.. i going to miss the tp.. but the new beginner is just begain. i going to quit sake end of this mths. looking to my full-time job. i attend two new couse is the camp high achiever. what i learn is what is SEL. Is stand for social emotional learnig.. then i start to think alot how i going to do next. it might be the new big step for me. i also attend the smile course.. is about how to serve the customer emotion, want, need to serve them.. i got alot of lagher. so what is s.m.i.l.e stand for? smile, motivated, interested, listen, extra mile. lol

on this thu smile at lvl 2.. can't wait to attend the course. fri is dewinin outing on sat is sis orientation training. next week is my HK trip for 9 days.. cannot wait to come. my first time visit to HK. And second time to oversea trip. This is made me happy ho ho ho. this will be busy and fun mths. =)

It was the horror 2 weeks on weekdays but weekend is the only time to feel i was back to relax.

All the hard work u done was not u been achvieve but u learn thought the process but ppls will attack u from the back and the supvior is always helping those who are GPA high then u so that he don't helping out those who GPA is low. He told me this. I was very angry that i push myself to prove i can make it. But i was wrong. The supvior helping out the other group to do the application and give out the best chamical that want.. what the xxxx.. then end up the group might get the merit award. this was so unfair.. o my god.. i hate this group to the max and the supervior.. how come ui treat us unfair.. because they GPA is better then us.. Dewinin Outing at Yingen House

We went to yingen house to have a steamboat outing at his house. Before that we want NTUC at AMK hub to buy the steamboat stuff. This is my first time that I have been buying steamboat. Yingen and miao hong know what to buy for the steamboat. I and sammel was to push the troy around following them. =) After when to yingen house to get start steamboat. Then have the birthday celebrate being. I was a touch and enjoy they planned for me. I made0 three wish. First we will stay forever friends, secondly is work hard for our study and third is a secret. We watch tv program and ate a lot of round of steamboat is full till the max. Yingen house had 4 bicycles so 4 person were riding the bicycle then the rest walk to AMK hub. To rent the movie then ricky amount can’t taking back his IC. Because his IC was can remove is out. So ricky don’t risk any more. So pei yun take the time to learn how to ride the bicycle. =) After that go Mac to slack for awhile. After that when back to yingen house take a rest. Then go opposite for our breakfast. After that we want to watch movie call The Coffin. Then we went out fav to go arcade to play basketball. =) The sad thing I lost my wallet maybe at cinema or arcade but did not find it. So need to have a police report. =( Hope the kind person return my wallet. Overall we had a lot of fun on steamboat gathering, making Samuel while he was sleeping for 10 hour plus, surprised birthday celebration, night cycling, movie session and arcade. I tot we are heading home but she bring me to another HDB block. I tot how come she bring me there it was a surprised birthday celebration from them I was so touch that a lot person coming down. But the sad thing is that I have been the cake all around my face. =( Overall I was touch and enjoy been back to my young days. AC on the rock. =)

Meeting up at orchard cineleisure for lunch & bought the tickets for the late night movies!! =) Then yingen and miao hong bought keychans. Yingen give esther one of the keychains lol.. This is my first time when to holland V is so nice place that feel u are not in singapore too. Nigel, yingen, lee kiang and me was at the ac chalet.. Then we left the chalet at 10am. We tot we are late to meet them at vivo at 11 am and we are at the bus stop to wait the bus no 403 to pasir ris mrt to meet ricky they all.. Will we waiting for the bus i mentioning that i pointing to the diction toward the main road.. Then got a van stop then uncle say i will going to main road u wan had a ride to there we say ok.. On the way to main road uncle ask us uwe heading to where then we say we are going to vivocity. Uncle ask us u wan me to bring u to vivocity because he will be going to west side.. Then we reply okok thank alot.. So we can reach on time at vivocity.. then we saw wee loon is the first one to reach then follow by us then joleneruth.. 13-oct-16oct when for ac chalet. MP and ac camp retreat.. Is so tried till second day onward always sleep till they all can't wake me up to join them for drinking wine and watching movie on the third night..

On monday i come late due to MP.. Then join them dinner at white sand on KFC.. Then go NTUC buy supper then play Mahjong session for two rounds till next morning that only person lose in MJ..=( During on my way to sch i was sleep thought all the way to sch( bus stop, change bus and in the bus) of my MP.. After that went home to pack-bag for the second and third days.. Then after that went to chalet for dinner.. Dor and faezah make dinner for us so good right.. I give them a 8 out of 10... After dinner we went to ehub for arcade session.. They invest alot onto the scope the Tang TAng Thing.. then they got gackpot and won them a Mickey Mouse Hand And Alot of of Sweets Then we also take neoprint.. On third we had three car then we travel ard on the east side then we went to airport road to view the aeroplane fly by above us. Then when to changi to watch gay how petty and how they do the business. Then when back to Chalet to watch movie i see half way fall alseep. =(

Long time then nv see them le seen on aug.. We still very good friends and happy as ever.. Been friend 8 years friendship.. Today we ceb Ah boy birthday at Su Chuan Dou Restaurant.. We today plan ate one meal before going to eat buffet .. So we go there for dinner buffet at 7.30pm till 9.30pm.. The Buffet title "60 Dishes Deluxe Feast". But the food is not i was aspected the nice food there not and is the same stand as the food court.. Only i like is they peform from tea master when they refill the tea beside u is so cool man please.. Then my friend call me to try but i don't have that skill =(... Then we order for three round of diffent kind of foods eat till we can't eat anymore till when I was almost full till the max that i can't even stand up please.. lol... Then we order dessert.. I like the dessert in the end.. Then wan to jiong hua house to play mj and watch varity show.. =)

New Efficiency Benchmark For Dye-sensitized Solar Cells

Dye-sensitized solar cell technology, invented by Michael Grätzel at EPFL in the 1990s, shows great promise as a cheap alternative to expensive silicon solar cells. Dye-sensitized cells imitate the way that plants and certain algae convert sunlight into energy. The cells are made up of a porous film of tiny (nanometer sized) white pigment particles made out of titanium dioxide.
The latter are covered with a layer of dye which is in contact with an electrolyte solution. When solar radiation hits the dye it injects a negative charge in the pigment nanoparticle and a positive charge into the electrolyte resulting in the conversion of sunlight into electrical energy. The cells are inexpensive, easy to produce and can withstand long exposure to light and heat compared with traditional silicon-based solar cells.
Currently, state-of-the-art dye-sensitized cells have an overall light conversion efficiency greater than 11%, still about two times lower than silicon cell technology.
A major drawback to the dye-sensitized cell technology is the electrolyte solution, which is made up of volatile organic solvents and must be carefully sealed. This, along with the fact that the solvents permeate plastics, has precluded large-scale outdoor application and integration into flexible structures.
To overcome these limitations, Grätzel and his colleagues developed a new concept -- a mixture of three solid salts as an alternative to using organic solvents as an electrolyte solution. When the three solid components are mixed together in the right proportion they turn into a melt showing excellent stability and efficiency.
Grätzel is confident that further development of these types of electrolyte mixtures will lead to large-scale practical application of dye-sensitized solar cell technology, reinforcing solar energy's role as a cornerstone of alternative energy production.

Titania nanotubes could boost solar cell efficiency

Researchers at Pennsylvania State University, US, have used arrays of titania nanotubes in place of titania nanoparticles in dye-sensitized solar cells. The resulting cells showed promising photoconversion efficiencies.

"We have a very short negative electrode providing a remarkable photocurrent density – the amplitude of which is generally proportional to the length up to the point all the light is absorbed," Craig Grimes of Pennsylvania State told nanotechweb.org. "If we could maintain such properties with increasing nanotube length, we should be able to achieve low cost solar cells of tremendous efficiencies – basically up to the theoretical limit."
Grimes and colleagues made the nanotubes by sputtering 500 nm-thick titanium films onto fluorine-doped tin oxide-coated glass substrates. This use of a transparent substrate enabled front-side illumination of the cells. The researchers anodized the films at 12 V in an electrolyte of hydrofluoric acid and acetic acid. Finally, the team annealed the films in oxygen to induce crystallinity. The final product was transparent arrays of titania nanotubes that had pore diameters of 46 nm, wall thicknesses of 17 nm and which were 360 nm long.
"Highly-ordered titania nanotube arrays have remarkable charge transfer and photocatalytic properties," said Grimes. "The remarkable charge transfer properties of the arrays beg the application to dye solar cells. The nanotube-arrays can be basically viewed as 'electron highways'."

Making arrays
Next, the team treated the arrays in a solution of titanium chloride, in order to improve their charge transfer properties. They attached molecules of a ruthenium-based dye to the nanotubes by immersing the array in a solution of the dye overnight. To form a dye-sensitized solar cell, the team added an electrolyte and a counter electrode consisting of a conductive glass slide sputter coated with platinum.
For an active area of 0.25 sq. cm, the cells typically exhibited a photocurrent density of 7.87 mA/sq. cm, with an overall conversion efficiency of 2.9%. This efficiency was five times higher than nanotubes not treated with titanium chloride. The nanotubes also had better recombination characteristics than the nanoparticulate titania typically used in dye-sensitized cells.
Grimes believes that low cost, high efficiency solar cells are in everyone's best interest. "The Earth's oil supply will be depleted in our lifetimes and the Earth's coal supply will be depleted in our grandchildren's time," he said. "To supply the energy needs of 6–10 billion people in a manner they are accustomed to is a big, big challenge that will not be met without a tremendous, focused effort. It truly behooves us to begin serious consideration of what we are going to do."
Now the researchers are working to increase the length of the transparent nanotube arrays. They are currently prevented from making nanotube arrays longer than 360 nm because they cannot make good-quality titanium films thicker than 500 nm. "Our biggest challenge is simply finding a suitable means for titanium film deposition from which we make the nanotube arrays," said Grimes.

Organic Dye Solar Cells

Cheap and easy-to-make dye-sensitized solar cells are still in the early stages of commercial production. Meanwhile, their inventor, Michael Gratzel, is working on more advanced versions of them. In a paper published in the online edition of Angewandte Chemie, Gratzel, a chemistry professor at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne in Switzerland, presents a version of dye-sensitized cells that could be more robust and even cheaper to make than current versions.Dye-sensitized solar cells consist of titanium oxide nanocrystals that are coated with light-absorbing dye molecules and immersed in an electrolyte solution, which is sandwiched between two glass plates or embedded in plastic. Light striking the dye frees electrons and creates "holes"--the areas of positive charge that result when electrons are lost. The semiconducting titanium dioxide particles collect the electrons and transfer them to an external circuit, producing an electric current.These solar cells are cheaper to make than conventional silicon photovoltaic panels. In principle, they could be used to make power-generating windows and building facades, and they could even be incorporated into clothing. (See "Window Power" and "Solar Cells for Cheap.") A Lowell, MA-based company called Konarka is manufacturing dye-sensitized solar cells in a limited quantity. But the technology still has room for improvement.In existing versions of the solar cells, the electrolyte solution uses organic solvents. When the solar cells reach high temperatures, the solvent can evaporate and start to leak out. Researchers are now looking at a type of material that may make a better electrolyte: ionic liquids, which are currently used as industrial solvents. These liquids do not evaporate at solar-cell operating temperatures. "Ionic liquids are less volatile and more robust," says Bruce Parkinson, a chemistry professor at Colorado State University.New dyes are also being investigated. In commercial cells, the dyes are made of the precious metal ruthenium. But researchers have recently started to consider organic molecules as an alternative. "Organic dyes will become important because they can be cheaply made," Gratzel says. In the long run, they might also be more abundant than ruthenium. ...Parkinson cautions, though, that work on organic-dye solar cells is still at a very early stage. Going from a laboratory prototype to a commercial module typically reduces efficiencies significantly. To capture a larger share of the solar-power market, dye-sensitized solar cells will require some more improvements. "We really need a breakthrough to get up to 15 percent efficiency in the lab," Parkinson says.

Went for the dewini outing.. This is my first time roller blading at ECP!!! I have alot of body ache and pain but no pain no gain.. From this ache and pain I have lvl up my blading skills to 4.. And a very speical thanks to Samuel for teaching me how to roller blade. And also thanks to Yuan Jian for giving me a ride back to Burger King but still we continue to fall. However, we gain blading and cycling skills after that.. Here is our main course for our dinner and the group picture before we ate our meal.. =)

Households to see average rise of about 21% in electricity bills from Oct

Singaporeans will see an increase of 21 per cent in their electricity bills in the last quarter of this year. The average electricity tariffs from October to December would go up by 5.38 cents per kilowatt per hour. The Energy Market Authority (EMA) said the increase is due to higher fuel oil prices.
For the last quarter of this year, oil prices were nearly S$155 per barrel, 38 per cent more than the third quarter.
So average monthly electricity bills look set to rise by S$5.70 to S$22.92 for those living in one— to five—room public housing flats.
For those living in the one— to three—room flats, this works out to an increase of between S$90 and S$223 in electricity bills for this year.
"I am jobless, so burden for me also," one individual said.
"Even though I don’t pay the bill, my son does so I still feel the pinch for him," said another.
Seah Choon Seng, executive director, Consumers Association of Singapore, said: "The 20 per cent adjustment in tariff price is quite hefty for consumers to bear and I suppose one of those very high adjustments we see in many years. We feel that the companies involved in the utilities business should work harder in improving their efficiency to bring down the costs for consumers."
The EMA said the government’s U—save rebates of S$310 to S$330 to help offset increases in utilities bills is more than enough to cover this year’s electricity price increase for one—, two— and three—room HDB flats.
For four—room HDB households, the increase to the bill size for this year would be marginally higher than the U—save rebate given. These homes received S$295 in U—save rebates. But the total bill size for 2008 is estimated at S$316.
The EMA feels there is more room for Singaporeans to conserve and use less energy. That’s because the EMA’s surveys and findings show that nearly 40 per cent of Singapore homes are using more energy than they require to. And the air conditioner is one of the largest energy guzzlers in homes here.
Khoo Chin Hean, chief executive, EMA, said: "There is a lot of use which can be curtailed. There is probably quite a bit of wasteful usage. It is this kind of usage we can be more mindful of and take measures to manage our consumption."
The authority said if the forward fuel prices come down next month, the electricity tariff from January to March 2009 will be reduced accordingly.
